I think you will all be impressed with the 6.2L engine. For the Baja 1000 truck we had a special engine that has 500 HP and a bit over 500 FTLBS. Yes it had special cams and a few things but nothing major. They didnt change stroke or anything like that big. Custom headers and some air tube / air cleaner intake stuff was different. Reality I think you will see these engines produce in the 600's with out bunches of junk. The bottom end looked as good or better then our V-10 stuff. Mains are 4 bolt for the crank and the heads are very nice. They have lots of room for port work and or growth.... Anyway I am no engine expert or anything but I have raced Ford products in the off-road arena for a long time. Thats all I have to say about that.......

Thanks Greg that was the reply i was looking for. Im not looking for 1000hp or a sand rail. 5-6 hundred would be nice. 5-6 hundred would be even nicer using some basic ford racing parts that would be easier on the warrenty; if something should happen. Im really excited about the new 6.2. Owning three boosted ponys and two being 2v mods it didnt take long to push past the stock short block limits. Im crossing my fingers the 6.2 will be a little stronger then the majority of the previous mod motors. Does anyone know what the connecting rod material is? Guessing powdered metal.

Is it the modular style mains with the 4 bolt main and 2 cross bolts for each ends of the cap? Was the block aluminum?

6.2 liter is cast iron block. Heads and accessories are all aluminum. The mains are like the modular but a bit different. Pretty close... A bit heavier....

Thanks for the info on the new engine. An all aluminum 6.2 block would be insane. It obviously wouldn't be as durable, but they can make some crazy power. Personally, I would be satisfied with the stock 6.2, just knowing that it makes four hundred ponies would make me proud to drive it.

You know what the strongest 4.6L and 5.4L blocks from Ford are made out of? Aluminum.

Actually, although VERY strong, the aluminum blocks are not the strongest production modular block. The iron blocks from the cobras are the ideal choice for high (2000)hp levels. Also i believe the aluminum cylinders will distort under high boost levels, that is why darton (spelling?) sleaves are in alot of aluminum block high hp boosted cars. The aluminum just cant take the cylinder pressures.

the ford GTs aluminum 5.4l is the strongest mod block, but it has hardly anything similar to the other mod blocks besides bore, stroke, and bore spacing.

The new 6.2 must be durable to stand up to the tests it was subjected to. Ford would not put it in this truck if it was not dependable.
